
Steve Forrest

Steve Forrest has been a golf course architect since graduating from Virginia Tech in 1979. Since that time, he has been involved in all phases of golf course design and construction and has worked on over 120 new courses on five continents. Today, golfers around the world experience Steve’s designs is places as unique as China, Morrocco, Norway, Sweden and Russia.
A member of the American Society of Golf Course Architects since 1986 and a Past President (2007-2008), Steve is also a Past President of the ASGCA Foundation.
His design approach, which was shaped by the "traditionalist" philosophy of Arthur Hills, is to create a challenging, yet playable course which highlights the natural beauty of a given site. He brings this same approach to master planning and renovation. Forrest has been involved in more than 150 renovations and master plans during his career. In 2008, Boardroom Magazine named Forrest as its “Golf Architect of the Year” for his renovation of Naperville Country Club in Illinois.​

Steve also continues to embrace innovation, including the role technology is playing in how golf course architects view their job today, and how that technology impacts the restoration of historic courses.
